My name is Mitchell, though I go by a vareity of different handles across the internet, most frequently as Lemmy. And yes, that distressed lad you're seeing up there is a pretty good look at what I look like.I'm always looking that stressed, but rarely because of Game Boy Games. Though considering the games I started with, maybe it is because of Game Boy games. Honestly, I just put this section here to fill out my header bar, but what the hell, I might as well rant a little bit.

First of all, the important stuff. Whilst I don't really like the term 'gamer', playing video games is one of the biggest parts of my life. I've been playing video games actively for over twenty years at this point - my first gaming experience was watching my uncle play Diddy Kong Racing on the Nintendo 64 when I was two. I fell asleep, curled up on a chair watching him play, an event which was captured in infamy on film. My dad frequently refers to that, jokingly, as 'the day I stepped over into the darkside'. When I was five, my late mother bought me the first game that was my very own - Super Mario 64, a game which I hold incredibly dear to my heart, and still ranks as one of the greatest games I've ever played.

Since then, I have played and beaten hundreds upon hundreds of games. I've owned every entry of the Playstation, an Xbox 360, One, and Series X. Nintendo 64, Wii, Wii U, Switch. 3DS, DS, and, of course the reason we're all here, the Gameboy Advance, the first console that was mine and mine alone. Gaming is a gigantic part of my life, to the point where I honestly was a little addicted to it. In recent years, with tertiary study and my first real job, I've worked hard to pull back on my biggest vice and, in some ways, make something out of it.

My other great love of a hobby is writing. Ever since I was very small, I loved writing tiny, stupid little stories. Like many teens of my era, I wrote more then a little bit of terrible fanfiction. I -still- write a decent amount of terrible fanfiction, but it's something I take pride in, and it's a fun hobby all on it's own. I'm currently in the process of trying to write a fantasy novel, but that's a process that'll probably take years. Still, it's fun. But where it relates to all this, is in recent years I've tried my hand at writing video game reviews. I feel they've been good enough, but I think I've struggled with writing a more formal review of games, especially older ones. My biggest aim with the Game Boy Abyss project is that I just want to write for fun. I'm going to be playing a lot of really terrible games, so I really want to play this fast and loose.

But on the more boring facets of my life. I'm a librarian, working in a school specifically, which I love. I love being around books, being an avid readers, and having an impact on kids, especially the more nerdy ones that seem to be drawn to me, a known nerd. I like to think of myself as a kind, caring person, but I feel like I've got a bit of a short temper, and I'm easily frustrated.

Anyway, that's enough out of me. There are waaaay more interesting part of this website to take a look at. Like the reviews? Hmmm? The reason you came here in the first place!?
